The greek alphabet is not hard to learn or write, you already know some letters from mathematics and it is pretty fast - no comparison to the russian or arabic alphabet which is really difficult to remember. I took a bit classical greek in school and it is not that difficult if you've learned ancient latin before, but greek has lots of grammar and as there are quite some things the english language does not know, it might be very hard to learn the language alone, if you want to be able to speak it one day - if you just want to know a bit, you could try by yourself.
