What’s the best way to teach myself ancient Greek?

I want to learn how to read ancient Greek -- specifically Attic Greek, I suppose. The most logical path would be to take a college course on the subject. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to do that. So what other options do I have? I am somewhat familiar with modern Greek from talking with my grandparents. Are there any ways I can teach myself?

well, now I’ve entered google and i searched for "learn ancient Greek" and as i can see there are on line possibilities and many other things, such as buying books which help you learn ancient Greek.
i think that it’s much better if you go to amazon.com and type "learn ancient Greek" or go to google and write "learn ancient Greek self teaching" and the first result is amazon and if you click there there is a book for self teaching.

I learnt with the "Teach Yourself" book. Worked for me but I don’t know if it’s still in print.

I’m italian and I study ancient greek at school… it’s a very very difficult language and i think it’s quite impossible to study it by yourself. You need a teacher, it’s the only way to study it.
