The very premise of Catholicism is based on the translation of latin vulgate which has been proven to be an incorrect translation by numerous scholars long before luther. With this knowledge why do catholics still worship in that system?

I'm going to Greece soon and would like to get that tattoo. I'm not 100% on getting that exact phrase, but something similar like maybe Even if all is gone, there is always hope or something along those lines. If anyone knows the translation that would be great. Also if people want to give me a suggestion on a similar saying, that would be great too!

A friend of mine says that the English translation has many errors from the original Greek text of the New Testament. I want to learn on my own so I can read a greek bible and see how accurate it is with my English Bible. I don't live near a community college or university and I don't want to sit in front of the computer for hours to learn.

I was asked to do a project on influential music artists for my AP music theory. I decided to do Jim Morrison from the Doors. I was researching his death and this: ΚΑΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΔΑΙΜΟΝΑ ΕΑΥΤΟΥ. is on his gravestone. I tried to find a translation, but nothing is coming up right. Does anyone know what it means?

Wouldn't that be the best way to understand what the authors of the Bible actually were intending to portray when they wrote it? Why do so few Christians bother learning these ancient languages that created the book which they worship daily and instead just take a translators word for it? How do they know which version of the translation is most correct without understanding the language themselves?

Or do they carelessly accept the poorly translated bible?
I speak Hebrew. I know the Torah backwards and forwards. The old testament is a joke.
I went to a Jewish private school. It's not my fault.
kickthecan61, you're a fool. You don't know the horrid translations your priests shove down your throat as truth.
The Torah is not a joke. The translation of it into the Old Testament is.

I'm trying to translate words and phrases from English to Greek and/or Ancient Greek, but I've had great difficulty finding an online dictionary that translates according to these two conditions...
(1) The Greek words must be in the Latin alphabet (i.e. a, b, c) NOT in the Greek alphabet (i.e. alpha, betta, gamma), and
(2) It must also NOT be "Greeklish" - the transliteration of the Greek Alphabet (i.e. letter-by-letter converstion of delta to D and gamma to G), but rather an OFFICIAL translation for that word.
I'm not sure how else to express it, but perhaps an example will help... In Greek "helios" means "sun" and "deus" means "god" and "hypnos means "sleep". These are translations in the Latin alphabet that are not transliterations. What I am looking for is a resource (preferably online) that translates any other English word (like "source" or freedom" or "flow") in that way.
If you have any information on such a website, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

For example at Matthew 4:10, Jesus said to Satan that it is YHWH alone whom you should worship. (I'm not quoting the literal words from any translation but I know Jesus mentioned God's name at this verse). When, in this scripture of new testament God's name was mentioned, how was it written in Greek? Please mention the names of the Greek alphabets that were used to write down YHWH in Greek.
