Is it possible to start to learn Russian and Greek at the same time, like in school, you learn English and German.
Would it be to hard to learn those languages at the same time, and how long would it take ... ? How long should i study at day.

I am an art history student and I need to take a language. I love classical antiquity and I want to specialize in Greek and Roman art and architecture. I am torn between the two languages. I think Latin may be a little more useful, but I am still unsure. Thanks!

languages are not offered as a course in high school so if any one could suggest some ways to go about learning them it would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have any book suggestions on them that would be great.

Hi there.
I've just spent some time online and found it most interesting how English comes from Latin and Greek and I'd like very much to learn more about these languages, maybe even get to speak them one day. But I know that Latin is a dying langauge which is pretty sad all things considered. So, what do you reacon? Is Greek easier to learn? Should I try finding a Latin teacher? Or am I simply wasting my time? Thanks everyone.

basically, my life motto is "carry your shield or come home on it". i know this is a spartan saying and i'd really appreciate knowing either the greek or the latin translation of this by someone who's studied in the grammar and correct term usage please.
"E tan, e epi tan"
"veho vestri contego vel adveho domus in is."
those are two latin translations that came from my research but i have no real knowledge of either of these languages

Languages known:
Spanish
English
Learning: French
Going to learn:
Arabic
Chinese
After Arabic and Chinese, is it more rational to learn Greek, Japanese, or Portuguese? For example, for business purposes.

Latin-Roman people ( Spanish,Portuguese and Italians )are so different than Slavic people...
Nordic people( Norvegian,Swedish, German) are also so different than Greek people...
Etc,etc...
But they are all White people...Homo Sapiens people...
Why, how and when did they choose to do the things in different ways ? (languages,cultures,etc..)

I would like to learn Classical Hebrew and Ancient Greek, however I feel it is more beneficial to learn a language you can use to actually talk to people. If I were to learn their modern equivalents would a transition to their older counterparts be easy? I know that Old English and English are drastically different, I was just wondering how much these languages have evolved.

I am American, knowing only little bits and pieces of quite a few languages, yet I want to actually learn Greek, yet every course online sucks. Any other online courses I can use?
Courses I have tried are:
Kypros.org
Byki
Live Mocha
the iPhone app "Wordpower"
and I believe a few others.

They say that English came from Greek and Latin because of many of the prefixes, the base words, and the root words, and then they say Spanish came from Latin. Did Spanish just come from Latin? I know hablar means to talk while sol is a Latin word for sun that came into the Spanish language. So this is why I asked how were the 2 languages of Greek and Latin formed.
