Is the Greek system a good thing to go into in college?

I just don't have a lot of information on the Greek system. What are the benefits? What are the drawbacks? Would it help with living expenses or make them worse? And what are some good sites that talk about the different houses?

If you have, or have not gone to OU and have or have not been apart of the Greek system there, you still know most of the people apart of it just utterly suck. Is this what all the other schools around the area talk about when they say OU is stuck up? I'm just tired of it.

Yeah, I can't speak the language but I want to be able to read and write in it (I guess I would just transliterate English to the Greek system of writing).

Is it easy? Can I teach myself? Or will I need to get a teacher/take a class?

I know some languages are difficult to learn to read simply because there are so many exceptions when it comes to reading them. However, keep in mind that I am pretty adept when it comes to learning/reading different languages.
