My grandmother Navia, who is fully Greek doesn't know ANY English. She lives in Greece but when we visit her we all have to speak in Greek. She doesn't want to learn it and told us that she doesn't need to learn it, how do I convince her to learn English?

Well we are talking about balanced budgets, so obviously it must not be a conservative party.
I be right. It was the socialists.
Greek MP expelled from socialist party for voting against austerity bill

Dick,
So I guess balanced budgets are socialists now? Must be because they raised taxes as well as cut spending.

And can you learn from tuition manuals and audio or would you have to join a class? I really want to learn as my parents now live in Greece and I visit a lot but I can't really afford anymore classes as I'm already paying out uni fees.

His empire lead to Old Testament translators to translate "Javan" as "Greece" instead of Macedonia for some reason, and I recall hearing that he would have spoke Greek.

Byzantine Empire was said to be the legacy of the Roman Empire but why the people did not continue to speak Latin but instead spoke Greek? Was it because they moved to the modern Turkey, which is near to Greece.

Greece is well known (or infamously known, depending on who you talk too) for it's City-States. I know that during the Greco-Persian Wars the Greek cities were still divided into City-States, but were they still in that state during the Fourth Macedonian War, when Rome fully occupied all of Macedonia and Greece?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm moving out to live in Athens with my partner (who is greek) in January next year and Will need to look for a Job. I'm a Cardiac nurse working in the UK at present and hopefully will be learning Greek once I move. I tired to contact the embassy in Greece regarding work but I did not find it very useful.
Right now I know a little Greek, but no where enough to even try for Greek speaking job.
Does anyone know what type of work (if any) that I might be able to get in Athens that requires English only?
Maybe private nursing jobs, ex- pat hospitals? I really don't Even know where to start looking for such jobs.
I've been told you can get greek news papers in English but I've not seen any in the local shops in Athens.
Is there anyone who has similar experience or any idea where I start?

I'm not saying I expect to get a program that's instant, but I don't want a program that takes forever. I can set a price range of 0 and under. What are good programs, or methods?
And I can't go to Greece.

I mean, since its "prohibited" to speak their mother tongue , and since they live in Greece, why none of them is able to speak Greek?
How these " huge" community communicate ?in Mors signs? Sign language? "body language"?
So all those who claim that are from "Aegean Macedonia" are welcomed to tell us their stories.....

What is the difference between ancient Greek and modern Greek?
and knowing some ancient Greek can one get by a little in Greece or is there really no point in learning ancient Greek to be able to communicate in Greece?
