I saw "ΕΑΛΩ" and tried translating it to English, and it came out as "EALO". What does "ΕΑΛΩ" mean?

there is the famous phrase when Constantinople was conquered by the Ottomans in 1453, η πόλις εάλω, meaning that the city fell in to the hands of another that the Greeks.
