I have never learned Greek before, so I can't tell you if it's hard or not. But I think any foreign language is going to be hard for people just because it is something strange and unfamiliar. With any language, it is best to be in a class or group where you can practice conversations. The Greek alphabet is practice. Don't let it intimidate you. Especially modern Greek... they've done away with most of the complicated grammar and accents. An excellent learning tool for ancient Greek is http://www.perseus.tufts.edu... this may even be valuable for modern Greek since much of the vocabulary is the same. Basic word declension is also quite similar. Once you are comfortable with the alphabet it’s really not that hard.
