Good idea to write story about greek gods and goddesses?

Im thinking about writing a story about god and goddesses, but in present time. Is this a good idea. Or are they suppose to stay back with the old greek times? lol. I have an idea for a story where there is this guy who turns out to be a god. Is writing a story about gods and goddesses a good idea?

I think it sounds like a really good idea! I would read a book about this.

I am currently writing a book that includes greek gods and goddesses but they are not in the present, they are in the past – this works for my story but obviously as yours is set in the present i think it would be something really refreshing and different to read about.

    I say go for it!

I think it’s a great idea. Although, I’d keep my eyes on Sherrylin Kenyon; she’s already used the idea and uses it fairly well.

I think I’ve seen a couple of such stories on Worthyofpublishing.

It seems like a good idea, but, like all ‘historical fiction’, be sure to have a very sure and sound knowledge of the mythology about them. That way, even if the story is not so unique, the reader might well learn something from it.

You could try a sci-fi angle. Put them in the past, but instead of being Gods, they are from another planet and settle here or are stranded here. The local people think they are gods because they have technology not available to others or perhaps they are time travelers from the future.
Another possibility is they are local leaders who did something great an have a reputation built around their exploits so with the passing generations they are thought of as gods.
