Hi from Greece,
No you do not need to learn the alphabet here as many greeks speak english. Also the road signs are both in english and greek.
Finding you way around our country is easy as us greeks are very friendly people indeed.Have a happy stay in our country
Not at all. I’m not sure about road signs, but most things tend to be bilingual or totally English especially if you’re in touristy areas. You can always ask people if you get lost, lots of Greeks speak English quite well.

Everything is written in English First. Knowing the greek alphabet won’t help either. It’s a very complex language and somethign you can’t teach your self in a few weeks.
All shop owners are bi-lingal and are very friendly!
No, you’ll be fine, almost every sign is in both alphabets.
No you dont need to learn the alphabet, just learn a few basic words.
Actually -knowing the Greek alphabet is part of Western heritage. If you are going there you would have a lot of fun knowing the alphabet -and that is not so difficult.
After coming home you would know what Jesus meant when He said he is the alfa and the omega -and you would understand delta waves and gamma rays. As you notice, we use the Greek letters all the time. And if, by any chance, you would later want to learn Russian or some other Slavic languages, the Greek alphabet would help! so go into a little trouble -and enjoy the fruits of your labor!
definetely not. the people there are very hospitable (well, most of them) and would be happy to give you directions or answer any questions. you’ll probably have the best luck at tour places or hotels because they speak the best english.
You totally don’t need to know Greek to get around there. Many signs are written in both Greek and English. I’ve been there two times, first time i was really little, but a couple years ago when I went I was amazed (and somewhat relieved) to see so much English
Though English is spoken and understood in many parts of Greece, it is still useful to know some basic Greek phrases.
I know from experience that Greeks really do appreciate it when you try and speak their language, rather then just assuming that everyone understands English perfectly.
