As an infant, I was born within a 100% Greek community and assimilated into the community. Despite having an original greek ancestry, no one in my family knows greek. I learned greek in schooling as at age 2 and a half though 5 years. Eventually, we moved and years passed. I now cannot remember a lick of greek which makes me extremily frustrated. I think about it everyday and don't know what to do
Where should I go to learn Greek now, from your point of view as a Greek. I'm really serious about this and want some answers. It makes me sad that I used to speak, read, and write greek so fluently, but now I can't. Is there any institution in NY I can go to? A Greek church maybe or something? I'm really getting desperate
The area I live in now by the way used to have a lot of Greeks, now they are very little
I'm now 19 years old by the way
I once read about a version of the Bible that was a literal translation of the original Greek and Hebrew into English, word for word. I cannot remember what it was called though. Does anybody know?
Beast... you and your 3% best answer rating can take it elsewhere. Come back if you develop the capacity to engage in intelligent communication.
I've essentially memorized the Greek ALPHABET and don't know Greek. So, I want to know what it's called when you write English in Greek writing so I can read stuff like that in books and online and what not. Please help!
I really wanna know the best programs or other things that will help me learn Greek I know it will take a long time but if anyone knows the quickest way and cheapest but the best too please let me know and no I hate Rosetta stone so please don't give me that for an answer thank you
Do not Write in Greek. Tell me in English.
They Greeks claimed they talked with them and had children with them.
Do you think they could be right?
It's Alexa ![]()
Or did they fight/get along with any other cultures who spoke different languages? Anything??
can anyone here provide me info or they happen to have a download for the greek translation of the new testament???could you graciously send an attachment to rickey_solorzano@yahoo.com thank you sincerely r.a.have a nice day!!!!!!!!!
I just started learning two days ago. I don't see how it's hard..yet. While searching for websites for lessons, I noticed they say it's a very hard language to learn, and that it takes years to learn. So should I quit now and learn something else, or keep at it? (I'm only 14).
I want it for a tattoo so it MUST b precise!
Do you use a historical pronunciation? Erasmus? Modern Greek pronunciation? Why do you use the pronunciation that you use?
Also, do you use any of the audio recordings of the Greek New Testament that is available? Has that been useful for you?
i noticed in mathew 23 jesus used tartarus and she-devil terms based on greek mythology to describe where the religious jews going and what they were
why would God use mythology to explain a truth?
I am doing an Art History paper and just need some ideas or main points that I can argue. My topic is Greek Art and Architecture, and I am talking about how nude figures in Greek Art represent power and divinity. Opinions are welcome as well.
Wouldn't that be the best way to understand what the authors of the Bible actually were intending to portray when they wrote it? Why do so few Christians bother learning these ancient languages that created the book which they worship daily and instead just take a translators word for it? How do they know which version of the translation is most correct without understanding the language themselves?
This is a very famous quotation on death:
"Of all the gods only death does not desire gifts."
Could anyone tell me the work?
10 points. Thank you.
I have to write a 5 paragraph story about a greek myth about an invisible character (one that hasn't been made up yet), and I don't know what to write about. It has to have some sort of quest or journey they go on. Could anyone give me some ideas on what it could be about?
Byzantine Empire was said to be the legacy of the Roman Empire but why the people did not continue to speak Latin but instead spoke Greek? Was it because they moved to the modern Turkey, which is near to Greece.
I have always been totally fascinated with anything ancient. Are there any majors or minors for stuff dealing with Roman and Greek history/mythology?
Thanks.
i need to write a paper on greek mythology and i could use the help. just tell me what you know about greek mythology.
In the Greek language there are so many more useful words. I've read a few books by Plato/Artistotle and the english language doesn't do it justice. for example "love" has several different branches.. "eros" - romantic love "philia" - family love etc...
Similarly, the word "justice" has so many more deeper explanations to it, with several other words for that too, each with thought-provoking and almost insightful definitions.
Im a deep thinker and I love learning more ways to express myself, as I have come to realize that the english language really, really doesnt provide enough words to describe emotions fully.
Any more examples such as the "love" and "justice"?
it is a short ten min tragedy not sure what to write about
should we talk in the past or present tense
for example, i am writing an essay about the goddess iris
