You know how to read and write fluently. How long will it take usually to be able to be fluent in the language for a person who can learn a language at an average rate?
I really like the first two songs of this YouTube video.
If you speak Greek or Turkish (or both!), would you please tell me who sings them? Or would you at least type the lyrics so that I may find the song titles?
Thank you!
Telospantwn & Ovsanna:
Thank both of you so much! I would never have found the songs if you hadn't answered.
I'd like to know how to write them in a more modern, secular context.
please put them in uppercase characters.
for example the word, 'Athena'
So, in modern Greek they are: Απόλλων - Αθηνά.
Uppercase: ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝ - ΑΘΗΝΑ
Picture reference would be great too!
Thanks
Please no translator. I need the perfect translation from a greek/ chinese person. just link me to it. Thanks

In 1829 when Greece became a state, for the first time, it was a small country covering the region of Morea, modern day Peloponnesus (Greece proper). The majority of people living in Morea at the time spoke Albanian, Turkish, Vlach and Slav. Athens itself, the cradle of the ancient civilization, was nothing more than an Albanian village.

I really liked 'The Secret History' by Donna Tartt which was about a group learning classics in university. While reading I became interested in the ancient greek language (not the modern version), and I want to learn it, but I only got some e-books without audio companions. I don't know any teacher around my town. I was told that it is a rather difficult language, but is it possible to learn the basics from only books? Thanks for your answers.
i need to know how to write the name Creon in Greek (like Creon from Oedipus or Antigone)
Yeah, I can't speak the language but I want to be able to read and write in it (I guess I would just transliterate English to the Greek system of writing).
Is it easy? Can I teach myself? Or will I need to get a teacher/take a class?
I know some languages are difficult to learn to read simply because there are so many exceptions when it comes to reading them. However, keep in mind that I am pretty adept when it comes to learning/reading different languages.
The CSI episode is the one where they find t-shirts and they connect to Greek Mythology. They also talk about numbers meaning words like 7-Conciseness and 0-Everything and Nothing.
I want to know what the rest of the numbers are and what this system is called.
I think Greek is an interesting place and i would like to know that language but i really don't have time to go to a class and all of that stuff. So please if u know anything please let me know:)

So, which Greek ruler should I choose, and how to write a good paragraph?
Thanks for your help.
Was Greek everything stolen by the Percy Jackson series? Like, would it be very original to write something along the lines of what he wrote, or was that just it?

I am looking for the Greek translation of "The pursuit of knowledge is the meaning of life". I have already looked at an online translator and it said, "Η επιδίωξη της γνώσης είναι το νόημα της ζωής" but I don't trust it for accuracy. Is it correct?
Greek mythologies as in the stories of Greek mythological figures, like Perseus, and Odysseus, etc.
It's interesting, but I don't like reading long texts summarizing the stories.
It won't help me remember them. TV documentaries, though, help. I remember the stories (for example, the two mentioned above, which stories I learned on TV), even just the main happenings.
What other things will help me remember them?
