The quote "it was Greek to me" comes from Shakespeare’s play "Julius Caesar." The quote itself is used all the time nowadays to describe something that you don’t understand. For example, if a nuclear physicist started talking to you about something insanely scientific and difficult to understand, you might say "it’s all Greek to me" because it is like the physicist is speaking in a foreign language.
The full quote you are talking about is supposed to be ironic, since the part about Greek comes from Shakespeare’s play.
One is understandable and the other isn’t to some people.
may b shakespare spoke good greek !!!!!
In Shakespeare famous play "Julius Caesar" it is said like this "but for my own part, it was Greek to me." In the play, it’s meant that the person did not understand it. Like the other person was talking Greek to them. It’s said today in the same format. For example, if you’re Spanish teacher was talking to you and a friend asked what she said, you would reply with, I don’t know it was all Greek to me. I hope I was of some sort of help.
It means you don’t know what you are talking about when you talk about Shakespeare
